BB Symposium on Applied Education August 13
Annual event to discuss Applied Education with industry & business
Design (thinking) and Business
A Sydney Design 2010 Event
The purpose of the Billy Blue 'How to Apply' Symposium is to bring design educators and industry/business together to share, exchange, and challenge ideas relating to contemporary design practice, across all design disciplines and the education of young designers. This event is most interested in fostering constructive, collaborative dialogue and action around design activity and curriculum development. The Symposium will include eight presenters, four design practitioners and four design educators, each speaking for up to 30 minutes. The range of perspectives on design and design education presented through the Symposium should result in strengthening the relationship between industry and the academy regarding the nature of 'Applied' design education and its practice.
The Symposium asks speakers to contribute challenging perspectives and positive aspiration around the design Industry and it's future in Australia. This event will also expose educators and the industry to current trends and future needs, and how this affects what will be taught to young designers in the near future. The aim is to continue working towards building a stronger, more inclusive, internationally recognised design Industry for Australia.
This year the How to Apply Design Symposium will be exploring the potential for innovation in Australia and the world through Design (Thinking) to ignite the nexus between Business and Design.
