Making Shapes

Crafting the THINKING, MAKING, CONNECTING Concept... insight from Motherbird Studio

The process undertaken to reach the final 3 Billy Blue images was painstaking yet rewarding. Creating the handcrafted paper models was a journey which involved much experimentation and lateral thinking.

We developed a story based on the themes; Thinking, Making & Connecting. This allowed us to develop each campaign image around one of these words, working both as a series and individually. Hundreds of paper shapes were folded for each campaign image, sustaining only a single paper cut. The shapes were then carefully arranged and suspended to be photographed.

Once we were happy with the final composition, the images had all the wires and imperfections taken out via digital retouching.
