If you’re someone who prefers to be behind the camera than in front, we’ve got news for you. The Diploma of Film and Video introduces a range of skills and knowledge found in film production. It develops an understanding of screen-based video production and post-production along with basic skills developed in cinematography, lighting, editing, colour grading and sound design. It’s a perfect stepping stone towards an exciting career in film and video as well as an entry point into one of our Bachelor degrees

COURSE OVERVIEW

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Diploma of Film and Video provides you with a base of knowledge and skills in screen-based video production and post-production. You will develop basic skills in cinematography, lighting, editing, colour grading and sound design. Additionally, you will develop an understanding of and practical skills motion design, photography and all the leading software used in the industry. The course consists of shared subjects with cross-discipline diplomas and bachelors providing both on-boarding support, exposure to bachelor programs for pathway opportunities as well as a genuine exit qualification if you wish to enter directly into the field upon graduation

Demonstrated ability to undertake study at this level:

  • Broadly relevant work experience (documented e.g. CV), demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success; OR
  • Formal, informal or non-formal study, completed or partially completed, demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success; OR
  • written submission to demonstrate reasonable prospect of success; OR
  • discipline specific portfolio (art and/or design) - applicable to Design only
Full admissions criteria
  • Australian Year 12 or equivalent; and
  • IELTS 5.5, with no sub score less than 5 or equivalent.

Yes, course credit is available upon application and academic approval. This credit can take the form of credit transfer, block credit, or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). For further information, consult our friendly Course and Careers Advisor, or visit the website.

Billy Blue Bachelor Degree courses are eligible for FEE HELP (Australian students only). FEE-HELP is Australian Government’s loan scheme for higher education degree courses. It can assist you in paying for all, or part of, your course fees. Repayments commence via the tax system once your income rises above a minimum threshold. Just like with any other debt, a FEE-HELP debt is a real debt that impacts your credit rating.
