Spend a day with us, at Uni, and discover what a day in the life of a design or gaming student is REALLY like. Our workshops are free, and an ideal way to get a feel for what you like, what you don’t like and where you might see yourself in the future. You won’t know until you try!
On the day you will:
This workshop will be an explosive intro into the world of being a communication designer, and an introduction into the early stages of digital design. Students will explore branding, campaign strategy, and logo design to get their gears warmed up before launching into taking their design and transforming it into a stage show art installation.
Liam Key is a multidisciplinary digital artist, with 10+ years of industry experience, whose passions include: programming, 3D animation, motion design, projection mapping. If it's digital, Liam has become obsessed with it at some point in his creative endeavours.
Matt Epple is a multidisciplinary designer & artist, having worked in almost all creative fields over the past 30+ years. His works range in mediums from large scale sculptural installations, hand drawn 2D animation, visual art, painting, drawing, branding and campaigns. Matt rarely thinks inside the box, and has mastered the art of fluid creative thinking and medium bending solutions.
In this workshop, participants will brainstorm to develop an idea for a retail design concept store. You will draw inspiration from resources around you and develop a sketch plan of the space.
Nicole Dann is a passionate Interior Designer and lecturer at Billy Blue who believes good design has the potential to create a cohesive space through a collaboration of form, colour, materials and finishes. Nicole takes immense pleasure in helping students to reach their full potential and succeed in the design industry.
At the DITL Branded Fashion workshop we will take a brief look at the different careers you can pursue in the Fashion Industry, before getting stuck into some creative work like making a moodboard and developing concepts from it.
Zoe Mynott is lecturer at Billy Blue and a Textile Designer.
In this creative workshop participants will engage in a creative beauty shoot to see how to experiment with light to produce engaging portraits, leaving you inspired and confident.
Misty Wohlman is lecturer at Billy Blue and a Brisbane-based photographer who specialises in creative portraits and fashion imagery.
Join our creative technology workshop where you will immerse yourself in Google AI, robotics, and game programming. This workshop is a fun and informative introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Game Programming, and Cloud Computing.
Dr. Ali Mirjalili and Dr. Shazi Saremi both have PhDs in Artificial Intelligence and are Creative Technology lecturers at Torrens University.
Learn the basis of a basic ‘shoot ‘em up’ game that will focus primarily on balancing a level and finding the fun
