Still deciding which creative course or career to aim for?

Spend a day with us, at Uni, and discover what a day in the life of a design or gaming student is REALLY like. Our workshops are free, and an ideal way to get a feel for what you like, what you don’t like and where you might see yourself in the future. You won’t know until you try!

On the day you will:

  • Participate in a workshop of your choice run by our talented University design & gaming lecturers.
  • Get a glimpse into our classrooms, and tour the campus
  • Hear from students about their experience studying with us
  • Enjoy some free snacks to keep those creative juices flowing

Workshop types:

  • Communication (Graphic) Design & Digital Media Workshop:
  • This workshop will be an explosive intro into the world of Communication Design, where students will explore branding, campaign strategy, and logo design before launching their design and transforming it into a stage show art installation.

    Lecturers:

    Liam Key is lecturer at Billy Blue and a multidisciplinary digital artist, whose skills include programming, 3D animation, motion design, projection mapping.

    Matt Epple is a lecturer at Billy Blue and a medium-bending multidisciplinary designer & artist whose works range from large scale sculptural installations to hand drawn 2D animation, branding and campaigns.

  • Interior Design Workshop
  • In this workshop participants will develop a design for a chair/stool using recyclable materials (e.g. coffee pods, straws, toy dolls etc.). With a special guest appearance by Reverse Garbage Queensland, a Brisbane-based company diverting high quality industrial discards away from landfill and selling them at a low cost to the general public.

    Lecturer:

    Nicole Dann is a passionate Interior Designer and lecturer at Billy Blue who believes good design has the potential to create a cohesive space through a collaboration of form, colour, materials and finishes. Nicole takes immense pleasure in helping students to reach their full potential and succeed in the design industry.

  • Branded Fashion Workshop
  • At the DITL Branded Fashion workshop we will take a brief look at the different careers you can pursue in the Fashion Industry, before getting stuck into some creative work like making a moodboard and developing concepts from it.

    Lecturer:

    Zoe Mynott is lecturer at Billy Blue and a Textile Designer.

  • Photo Imaging Workshop
  • In this creative workshop participants will see how to experiment with light to produce engaging portraits, leaving you inspired and confident.

    Lecturer:

    Misty Wohlman is lecturer at Billy Blue and a Brisbane-based photographer who specialises in creative portraits and fashion imagery.

High School students in years 10-12 AND anyone interested in learning more about a career in either Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion, Photography, Digital Media or Gaming .
